Lesson 4

Today you are going to edit and improve your work.

Editing is simply looking for mistakes such as spelling, punctuation or grammar mistakes. Also look out for words you have missed out or repeated! The best way to check your work for mistakes is to read it aloud - does it say what you think it says..?

The next stage is to  improve your work. This means taking out any bits that aren't your best work and improving them.

• Could you use an online thesaurus to up-level your vocabulary?
• Can you add a list of adjectives into your noun phrase?
• Could you use a fronted adverbial or a subordinating conjunction to open your sentence or paragraph?
• Have you uses a dreaded comma to join two independent clauses instead of a full stop or a conjunction?
