Welcome to Oak Tree Class!
This term our topic is "Exciting Explorers" and we will be learning about the amazing people who discovered different places in our world
In Maths we will learn about counting, number and we will play a range of Maths games to reinforce the one to one correspondence of counting forwards and back. Our Reception children will focus on counting, sorting and forming numbers. The year 1 and 2 children will continue work on number and place value, comparing numbers and objects before adding and subtracting numbers. Year 2 children will be looking at numbers to 100 and count in 2's,5's and 10's.
In English and History the children will learn about Neil Armstrong, the famous Space Explorer and will do some diary writing based around Sir Ernest Shackleton and his expedition to the Antarctic.
In Science we will be finding out about the seasons and weather and how the changes affect animals and people.
In RE, the children will be learning about churches around the world through the story of "Where in the World?" and the swallow named Sparkle. We will talk about celebrations in church and explore why Christians get baptised.
In our topic work the children will find out Neil Armstrong and Space exploration as well as famous expeditions to the Antarctic. In Art and DT the children will have the opportunity to work with paint, oil pastels, pencils and crayons as well as making simple paper sculpture pictures.
ICT will include learning about E-safety and what it means to be safe online. They will also use different paint packages to make. portraits of themselves.
PSHE will be ongoing with Exploring Emotions and mindfulness on a daily basis.
